In some cases, like a request for a Domestic Violence restraining order, you do not have to pay any fees. For some people who do not earn enough money, the court will say that they do not have to pay the fees. This is called a "fee waiver." To find out if you qualify for a fee waiver, read form 982(a)(17)(A), Information Sheet on Waiver of Court Fees and Costs.
You will need both of these forms to ask for a fee waiver:
